Magritte
Ulla Carin & Gilbert Holmström
In 1969 Ulla Carin Holmström became a member of the gospel choir Choralerna from her hometown Göteborg. She stayed for12 years and toured with the choir all over Europe and the US, at times in collaboration with pianist/composer Andrae Crouch.
A memorable moment happened in 1975 when Choralerna performed in London.
The Royal Albert Hall was completely sold out when Ulla Carin was featured in a duet number with the pop icon Cliff Richard.
It took a few years until Ulla Carin recorded her first jazz Cd Love Letters (Gilmont Music1998 ). Ulla Carin sings solely in English. The tunes are four originals plus a number of standards from The Great American Songbook.
On the present album Magritte all material is by Gilbert Holmström, music as well as lyrics in Swedish, except for on track 8 where the lyrics consist of a poem by the author Bo Bergman.
Gilbert Holmström is a renowned Swedish jazzmusician and composer.
